Philip McIlroy is a woodworker based in St. Philip's, Newfoundland. In his workshop he creates elegantly designed furniture crafted to last a lifetime or longer. Each piece of furniture is made using solid wood carefully selected to ensure grain continuity and harmony throught the work. Using a blend of machines and hand tools, the raw material is shaped and joined using traditional joinery to create furniture of exceptional strength and beauty.

In an effort to produce as much of my work as possible from high quality local timber I have added a sawmill to my business. I purchase primarily birch logs from central newfoundland. I cut and dry the boards which eventually become pieces of heirloom quality furniture. I also love to salvage logs from trees that have to be removed in the urban environment. These logs always create unique lumber from a resource that would otherwise be used as firewood or left to rot. If you have a tree that needs to come down and want a furniture piece made from it or simply don't want it to go to waste, get in touch and I will make something special out of it.
